And coming back up these stairs.
Over and over and over again. With heavy items. There would be no boot. I wrapped my foot up instead. We packed up one room or closet at a time, filled our Mini Cooper and a borrowed Suburban, and then unpacked it at the new place so we could reuse our limited number of boxes. Clothes stayed on hangers or in drawers. We did this a kazillion times. Our Ikea couch has covers that can only be washed once the couch is taken apart - yup - so I was running them and some dirty laundry through the wash in the midst of the insanity as well. Oh, and the cable guy was trying to get us setup at the new place. He wasn't supposed to be there alone, but we threw the key at him and told him welcome home... Twelve hours later, we were all moved. Everything was unpacked, the couch was clean and put back together, the bed was reassembled, we were drugged up with Advil to ward of soreness, and off we were to sleep. I was dreaming of making some big, burly friends before we have to move again.
One thing that sold us on this place was the fact that we had no other apartments across the way. Instead of this.

| We could see the fountain., which was cool. |
Both 3rd-floor apartments are on washes, but one had a high wall for privacy so all we could see was this.

| Seriously. That's what we saw if we were sitting. |
We even get the view from the living room.
It just makes a place seem bigger and lets us enjoy nature - lots of animals/birds come into these washes.
Sunday was Michael's birthday, the last one in his 40s, and we spent it cleaning the old apartment and shopping for a few things we needed in the new one - no lights in the bedrooms?! We also spent $200 to fix my phone, which got crushed at some point during one of my hauls. Hopefully now the blog can change from being a journal of mundane life events and get back to fun things to do here and elsewhere.

Do you think this will be your last move or you enjoy being gypsies. 😃 Enjoy you new home and lovely view.
ReplyDeleteNope. It's not the last move, although I was so tired after this one, I vowed never to do it again - ha! I'm not sure "enjoy" is the right word for our lifestyle, but it does seem to be an urge. Let's just say we're open to opportunities elsewhere should they crop up. We will definitely enjoy our current surroundings, especially as the temps come down and we can get back to hiking! Thanks for the kind thoughts!
