Who Doesn't Love A Parade?

Thursday was a busy morning for a Thanksgiving. First up was a 5K turkey trot. I admit we got lazy and didn't make it to that, but 1,658 people did. Not bad for a little town! I think that at 6pm they should hold another one and call it a "turkey waddle."

Next up was the Thanksgiving Day parade. You'll note that little ol' Fountain Hills was the only Phoenix-area town to have a parade today. This parade was much different than the Fantasy Fest parade we had just experienced in Key West. This one started out with a lot of old veterans and then a lot of old cars (sometimes both at the same time) - all classics and appreciated.

Oddly, just about everyone was in a car. Even most of the athletic teams were on wheels.

We had a number of politicians, including Sheriff Arpaio (a local), most of you have probably heard of him.

Of course, the one that got the most attention was the bicyclist.



There was quite a mish-mash. You'll note the horses got recycled a bit.

There were a few walkers (or exercisers). There was everyone from gym members, to Jazzercizers, to Daughter's of the American Revolution, to the Fountain Hills Theater.

The parade was a long one - almost 2 hours - with 75 groups signed up, but it was worth it when you-know-who brought up the rear.

Thanksgiving Parade 2013

Believe it or not, there were people already lining up in front of Target at 2pm today. It opens at 8pm. It's Fountain Hills....there is no reason to line up, seriously.
